SMITH, Elizabeth Jane -- Age 90, of Gaines, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Durand Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, August 11 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, Pastor John Bailey officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held 7:30 PM Friday under the auspices of O.E.S. # 212 of Byron. Elizabeth was born June 11, 1917 in Linden the daughter of Wade and Eba Odema (Moore) Houghton; and she had resided in Gaines most of her life. She was married to Carl A. Smith on November 3, 1934 in Gaines, and he preceded her in death Janaury 8, 1988. She retired from Victory Machine with 28 years of service. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Gaines United Methodist Church, and a life member of the O.E.S. #212 of Byron. Surviving are: son, Allen and wife Shanne of Fenton and Yuma, AZ; five grandchildren, Michael, Marshelle, Martha, Shallene, and Christina; nine great-grandchidlren; sister, Maude Bourassa of Flint; son-in-law, John Beebe of Brighton; several nieces and nephews.
