On Tuesday, July 9th 2024, Elizabeth Lenz, a loving, joyful, and caring sister, aunt, and friend passed away at age 99 in Flint, Michigan.
Visitation will be held at 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road in Swartz Creek. Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery along side her late husband, Anthony. Online condolences can be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Contributions in Elizabeth's honor would be welcomed at the Genesee County Humane Society or any other non profit organization which helps those who cannot help themselves.
Elizabeth Flora Jewell was born on October 25th, 1924 to William Fred and Dixie (Cox) Jewell in Dayton, Tennessee. Elizabeth attended Rhea County High School until 11th grade. She moved to Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1943. She was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone. Elizabeth married Anthony J. "Tony" Lenz in 1945. They moved to Tucson, Arizona where she was employed in management by Southern Bell Telephone. After retirement they returned to their families in Flint, Michigan.
Elizabeth was a long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society. She recently joined St. Mary's Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek, Michigan. She was a resident of Woodhaven Senior Community for 16 years. Elizabeth was her family's sunshine and her smile will be remembered by all. Elizabeth loved her family and friends, reading, crocheting, quilting with her sisters, the color purple, donuts, Scrabble, and Wordle.
She is survived by her brother Leslie (Virginia Ann) Jewell and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Tony and her siblings, Georgie O'Shaughnessy, Pete Jewell, Tony Jewell, and Lema Best.
