Elizabeth Loraine Kalakay

KALAKAY, Elizabeth Loraine - Age 87, of Flushing, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, November 13, 2023 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint.  Fr. Thomas Firestone celebrant.  Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Sunday from 4-8 PM and at church Monday from 10 AM until the time of Mass.  A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 7 PM at the funeral homes.  Those desiring may make contributions to the North End Soup Kitchen or Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. 

Elizabeth was born August 12, 1936 in Flint, the daughter of George and Zelda (Pero) Lahar.  She married Eugene Lawrence Kalakay May 16, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flint and he preceded her in death April 14, 2014.  She had resided in Flushing for the past 10 years coming from Traverse City.  Elizabeth was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint.  She enjoyed ceramics, playing bingo, cooking, baking and most of all going to the casino.  

Surviving are: her children, Beth (Clyde) Schultz of Flushing, Mary (Benny) Crafton of Swartz Creek, Michele (David) Dresbach of Burton, Brian Kalakay of Waterford and John (Heidi) Kalakay of Clio; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George II, Harry, DeWayne, Gary, and Eugene Lahar; and sister, Lucille Bissonnette.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
