BLACK, Elizabeth Bertha - age 93, of Gaines, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center Services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Gaines United Methodist Church, 117 E. Clinton St., Gaines. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Gaines. Visitation will be held 1-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Gaines United Methodist Church. Mrs. Black was born July 30, 1917 in Whittemore, MI, the daughter of Angus James and Anna (Earhart) Dunham. She married William Douglas Black on March 26, 1938 in Angola, IN and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2006. Mrs. Black attended Gaines United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Genesee County Home Extension, Farm Bureau and the Flushing eastern Stars. Mrs. Black never met a stranger and found the good in everyone she knew and met. Surviving are: three children, John Black and wife, Nancy of Mt. Pleasant, Robert Black and wife, Ila of Flint, Bonnie and husband, William Friend of Mason; son-in-law, Glen Velker of Crossville, TN; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three more on the way. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; her sister, Georgia Dunham and her daughter, Shirley Velker. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
