Elias Gatica

GATICA, Elias "Alex"-- Age 73, of Swartz Creek, died April 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 19 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 Bristol Rd., Flint. Burial at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 3-9 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and again from 10AM until time of service at the church on Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Elias was born August 16, 1944 in Ganado, TX the son of Antonio Gatica and Maria (Estrella). He married Brenda Walsh on March 20, 1964, they had 54 years together. He retired from Buick Local 599 in June 2006 with over 40 years of service. Elias enjoyed bowling, watching sports and bird watching. He also enjoyed listening to Christian Music, most of all he loved spending time with family and sharing his faith. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; 6 children, Allen (Trista) Gatica, Deanna (Roy) Garcia, Jodi (Brian) Bundy, Kristina (Ed) Lyon, Scott (Leslie) Gatica, Staci (Mark VanDewege);14 grandchildren, Allison, Ryan, Nicholas, Tyler, Rachel, Evan, Emily, Alex, Adam, Brendan, Reagan, Riannan, Hayden, and Connor (Doug); 4 step grandchildren, Hunter, Dylan, Lake and River; 1 great grandchild, Drake; siblings, Tony, Victor, Fred, Jon, Angie, Danny, Mary Ann and Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Gatica and Maria Gatica Zapata; brothers, Manuel, Martin; sister, Maria Anita.
