Elek F. Kovacs, age 77, of Flushing, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. A visitation will be held 4pm - 8pm Thursday with a Rosary at 7pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will resume the following day at 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11AM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Mary Queen of Angles Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek. Interment will be held at a later date at Saint Paul Cemetery in Owosso, Michigan. Online condolences can be shared at

Elek was born on March 11, 1947 to the late Elek & Victoria Kovacs in Flint, Michigan. He attended Grand Blanc High School, class of 1965. He was employed by E & L Construction as supervisor. He retired in 1998 after 34 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Elek enjoyed playing golf and playing cards with family. Elek will be fondly remembered for always having a new joke or two to share with any who would listen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Marti; children; Angie (Jim) Chernosky, Barbara Howell (Greg Mclean), Courtney Kovacs, Elek (Ploy) Kovacs, Melissa (Ty) Burt; grandchildren; Tyler (Cierra) Chernosky, Alexa Chernosky, Garrett Howell, Jason Perry, Kinzie, Mallorie, and Poppie Burt. Elek is further survived by his sister; Connie Weaver; sister-in-law, Cathy (Jerry) Robinson, and many loving nieces and nephews along with special lifelong friends Bill Berry and Jim Jewett
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings; Vickie (Ron) Michelson, Barbara (Jerry) Pettey, George Kovacs; sister-in-law, Judy (Jack) Crawford; brother-in-law; Wess Weaver and grandson, Wynn Kovacs.
