Eleanor Karnes

Karnes Eleanor E. - Age 91, of Flint, died September 13, 2017. Private services have been held. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to McLaren Hospice. Eleanor was born February 17, 1926 in Chicago, IL. the daughter of John and Sophie (Wilk) Gelerak. She married John "Jack" Karnes on July 11, 1953 in Flint. Eleanor worked for the Flint Board of Education retiring in 1985. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John "Jack" Karnes; nephew: Larry Okopien; godson: Steve (Vicki) Okopien and their children, Joey, Austin, Alexis; great-nephew: Scott (Tiffany) Okopien and their children, Alex, Nick, and Jack; great-niece: Kristin (Jeff) Wagenmaker. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents: John and Sophie Gelerak; sister: Florence Okopien; niece: Sherry Okopien. Special thanks to Nicole from Comfort Keepers, and McLaren nurse, Caron.
