Elda Bretzke

BRETZKE, Elda Fern Pillen - Age 102, of Fenton, died February 8, 2016. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM Friday, February 12, 2016 at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy St., Fenton. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to Fenton United Methodist Church. Elda was born March 30, 1913 in Ionia County, the daughter of Elmer and Nora (Shriner) Shaffer. She married Gordon B. Pillen of April 13, 1935 and worked with him in his carpentry and well-drilling businesses until he preceded her in death in 1970. Then she began working as a cook at North Road Elementary. Elda also worked as a seamstress for many years at William Gallagher Deer Skin Center and privately. She married Paul E. Bretzke on October 10, 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of Fenton United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Lee Becker of Fenton and Noreen F (Dennis) Wood of Linden; step-son, Brian (Polly) Bretzke of Flushing; step-daughter-in-law, Pam Bertzke; Seven grandchildren, Caryn (Jim) McGovern, Judith (Don) Hirn, Brian (Leanne) Becker, Randy (Jenny) Pillen, Kimberley Brown, Dennis "Mike" (Angie) Wood and Amy (Terry) Brown; Six step-grandchildren, Bruce Bretzke, Angie Finch, Paul Bretzke, Rebecca Heil, Katie Matosz and Andrew Bretzke; 13 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Terry, Erik, Kelsey, Shannon, Scott, Rachel, Rylie, Ryan, Katie, Jacob, Justin and Brandon; many step-great-grandchildren; many great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Walter; two sisters, Esther and Lois; son, Phillip Pillen; son-in-law, Thomas Becker; step-son, Bruce Bretzke; step-daughter, June; and two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Nicole. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Crestmont Healthcare and Compassus Hospice. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton.
