STURM, Elbert D., Jr. "Al" - age 64, of Holly, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, June 1, 2015 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing with Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with an Eastern Star memorial at 7 PM under the auspices of Chapter #175 O.E.S., followed by a Masonic Memorial under the auspices of Linden Lodge #132 F & AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Leader Dogs for the Blind. Al was born May 14, 1951 in Morgantown, WV, the son of Elbert D. Sturm and Gloria M. (McVicker) Ligon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Marie A. MacInnes on November 25, 2006. Al worked in Funeral Pre-Planning for many years. He was extremely active in the Masonic orders. He was a member of the Linden Lodge #132 F Linden Chapter #175 O.E.S. where he was Worthy Patron in 2006-2007 and 2009-2010; Elf Khurfeh Shrine, Saginaw Court #74 Royal Order of Jesters; Life Member of Fenton Shrine Club and President in 1980, Life Member of Circus Park Shrine Club, Potentates Aide, Chief Aide, Ambassador Coordinator; Grand Soloist for Grand Lodge O.E.S. 2004-2005; member of American Legion #413 Grand Blanc; Flint Elks #222, Banjo-Tainers for 25 years where he was past president, past director and life member. Al was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being an umpire for baseball and received honors at the Youth Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Surviving are: wife, Marie of Holly; daughter, Stacey M. (Tony) Springer of Flint; four grandchildren, Dylon, Tyler, Charles and Zoe Springer; brother, Edward (Sue) Sturm; many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father in 1967; mother in 1991; and his brother, Richard in 2004; and sister, Connie in 2014.
