Elaine M. WRIGHT

May 26, 1923 — June 26, 2012

WRIGHT, Elaine (Frost) M. -- age 89, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her home in Swartz Creek, Michigan. She passed away quietly, with her family at her side, including her husband of 66 years, John (Jack) M. Wright. Services will be 11 AM Thursday, July 12 at the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Roger Colby officiating. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Smile Train, P.O. Box 96210, Washington, DC 20090-6210 (www.SmileTrain.org.) Elaine was born in her family's farm house in Flint, Michigan, on May 26, 1923, to Walter Frost and Mildred Ainsworth Frost. She grew up on her family's farm on Hill Road and attended one-room schools until transferring to Grand Blanc for high school, where she was elected homecoming queen in her junior year. After graduating from high school in 1940, she attended Baker Business College. At this same time, she also met her future husband, Jack, on a blind date; however, she often joked that it wasn't really a blind date because, beforehand, he came into the bank where she worked to "check her out." She and Jack married on October 20, 1945, in Old Central Methodist Church in Flint, with Jack hitch-hiking home for the wedding from Ann Arbor. They resided for three years in Ann Arbor, where she was secretary to the Dean of the Medical School, while Jack attended law school. After returning to Flint, Elaine worked at the Michigan National Bank until the couple started a family and built a home on Miller Road in Swartz Creek, where she lived for 62 years until her death. She and Jack were also long-time residents of Au Gres, Michigan. Elaine had many interests. She was an excellent gardener, cook, baker and seamstress. When her children were in school, Elaine served as home room mother for many years. She took classes in cake decorating and provided beautiful cakes for many family events. She took cooking, upholstery and stained glass classes. She studied painting for many years and her paintings are enjoyed by family members throughout their homes. In addition to husband Jack, Elaine is survived by sons, John Wright of Ann Arbor, Gary Wright of Cortez, Colorado, and Craig Wright, of Frankenmuth; granddaughter, Alison Wright Sellman and her husband Jeffrey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandson, Ian Wright and his wife Yina, of Singapore; special friends Jason Metcalf and Marck O'Connell; nieces Karen McKinney, Patricia Jahrling; nephews Dennis Pinkston, Rick Frost and Phillip Frost; and long-time friends Faye Streetman and Juanita Bennett. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Pinkston, and brother Fred Frost. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.
