PERSIA, Eileen Johanna - age 94, of Indian River and Fenton, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the chapel of St. John the Evangelist Church with Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Indian River Library or the St. John Scholarship Fund. Mrs. Persia was born August 13, 1914 in Ironwood, MI the daughter of Patrick and Abigail (Shea) Nolan. She married Vincent E. 'Jim' Persia on November 24, 1938 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2005. Mrs. Persia was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Cross of the Woods Catholic Church in Indian River and the Red Hat Belles of Fenton. She was an avid reader. Surviving are: two daughters, Sharon and husband, the Honorable John J. McDonald of Farmington Hills, Christine and husband, Martin Covert of Fenton; five grandchildren, Michael McDonald, Patrick 'PJ' McDonald, Julie and husband, Jeff Wardlow, Kara Covert, and Kathryn 'KC' Covert; three great-grandchildren, Sam, Joe and Sally. 11 brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
