Edwin Hershon

January 28, 1925 — February 21, 2016

HERSHON, Edwin Arthur -- Age 91, of Clio, died February 20, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday February 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, Swartz Creek, Fr. Dan Scheid officiating. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 11 AM - 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Episcopal Church or the Marine Corps League. Edwin was born January 28, 1925 in Lansing the son of Harry and Frieda (Wagner) Hershon. Ed was one of seven children, sisters, Cele and Eleanor and four brothers, Hal, Mike, Robert and Harry Jr. all were WWII Marines. Ed and his wife Libby were school Mates in 1941 at Flint Tech High School. He married Libby Prochazka on January 19, 1946 in Flint. They had 2 children. Libby served with the women's reserves in DC. Libby passed away in April 2004; she is interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Libby was a wonderful wife and mother and a talented artist. Ed served 8 years in U.S. Marine Corps WWII and the Korean war. He joined the Marine Corps League in Flint while on leave in 1943. The Marine Corps was a big part of his life. Ed will miss all his friends, Marine Vets, in the Flint Detachment. "Semper Fi." He was a member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church since 1950. He is survived by his children, Carol (William) Turkovics of Burton, Eddie G. Hershon of Maryland; brother, Mike of Texas; niece Karen of Clio; nephew Barry of Grand Blanc; many friends; dear companion Geraldine Cherveny and her dear family; dear friends , Theodore and Madelon Tolson of Clio; among other close friends.
