Whalen, Edward Lawrence, III - Age 75, of Byron, died January 12, 2020. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Visitation will be held 5- 8 PM Thursday and 11 AM until the time of service Friday. Edward was born January 13, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Edward Whalen II and Mary (Coveyou) Whalen. Edward retired from GM V-8 plant with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Edward enjoyed playing guitar, reading, running and was a skilled woodworker. He was also and avid baseball and hockey fan. Edward loved horses and all of his four legged friends. Edward also enjoyed Native American history and his 1967 Chevy pickup. Surviving are: Daughters; Angie (Tom) Stone of Linden and Shantelle (Pat) Lehr of Flushing; grandchildren, Jessie (Alex) Gierucki and Jen (Todd) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Chase, Ryan, Tommy, Brynn and Lilly; Siblings, Kitty (Reg) Horning of Traverse City, Mary Anne Whalen of Washington, Patty Armstrong of Fenton, Kerry Whalen of Flushing, T.J. (Paula) Whalen of Fenton, Dan Whalen of Clio and many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents. Tributes may be shared at obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
