Edward J. ORTIZ

ORTIZ, Edward J., age 50, went to be with the Lord, passing away suddenly Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at home. Funeral Services will be 1PM Monday, October 26, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Fr. Tim Nelson officiating. Interment in Gracelawn Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 7-9PM Saturday; 2-5 & 7-9PM Sunday at the funeral home. A rosary will be held 7PM Sunday evening. Edward was born February 20, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas. Eddie was raised on the Eastside of Flint. He served in the Army, 82nd Airborne Medic and currently was working with Don Handy. Eddie enjoyed life to the utmost. He loved fishing, hunting and playing pool. He helped with children activities at 629 Eagles, played Santa, Easter Bunny and dressed up for Halloween. Preceded in death by father, Cruz Ortiz, dad, Alfredo Alonzo, brother, Fred Colunga, and uncle, Mike Ortiz. Survived by mother, Mary Alonzo and special friend, Frank Molina; Eddie's special companion, Nancy Martin, sons, Mike "Chench" (Melissa) Ortiz, Roman (Christina) Ortiz, and Fredo (Stephanie) Ortiz all of Flint; mother of sons, Barb; daughters, Jessica Ortiz of Swartz Creek, Kristina (Tonner) Eaton of Flint; mother of daughters, Alicia; step-children, Felicia James, Tony Cowan both of Flint; 5 grandchildren, Savonna, Letecia, Roman, Fredo and King all of Flint; special niece, Stacy Reynolds; brothers, Geno Vasquez, Chale (Gloria) Colunga of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Maggie (John) Reyna of Victoria, TX, Frances (Dale) Ortiz, Lisa Ortiz, Tina Gonzales of Flint; brother-in-law, Tony Rodriguez; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and many friends.
