Edward Raymond Hammond

HAMMOND, Edward Raymond- Age 85, of Flint, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at his residence.  A memorial service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, October 21, 2006 at United in Christ Lutheran Church, 6330 Corunna Road, Flint.  Pastor Gilbert Mabry officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10 AM until time of service.  Contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association.  Edward was born July 29, 1921 in Traverse City, the son of Frank C. and Gail Nellie (West) Hammond.  He married Vashti Nellie Smith  December 31, 1941 in Flint.  He retired from General Motors AC in 1981 after 42 years of service.  He was a member of United in Chirst Lutheran Church and was a charter member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling, sailing and a good Cribbage game.  Surviving are: wife, Vashti; 3 children, Lois and husband Clinton Campbell of Battle Creek, Michael and wife Janice Hammond of Swartz Creek, Elizabeth and husband Dana McKinney of East Machias, Maine; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Betty and husband Eric Christenson of Bonners Ferry, ID; brother-in-law, Martin Smith of Flint.  Tributes and condolences may be sent to www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
