FLAVIN, Edward Francis - age 70, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, following a lengthy illness. No services will be held. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or the animal shelter of choice. Edward was born February 5, 1948 in East Cleveland, OH, the son of Charles E. and Lois L. (Vacker) Flavin. Edward played high school football as well as Freshman Football for Rutgers University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. After returning from Vietnam, Edward attended Tri-State University where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He met Eileen Loose and they were married the same day he graduated from Tri-State University. Eileen preceded him in death on June 5, 2017. Edward also earned a Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. He retired from General Motors where he was an Engineer. Edward loved college football, dogs, and music. Surviving are: father-in-law, Wilford "Red" Loose of Coldwater; niece and nephew, April Swartout and Corey Carpenter, and their families. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister.
