BENAWAY, Edward - 96, of Burton, passed away November 19, 2021. No services will be held. Private interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Blindness organization of your choice.
He was born September 24, 1925, in Flint, MI the son of Milton and Melba Benaway. Edward had several jobs. Starting at AC, he then worked at Hamady Bakery where he met his future wife, Lois Lenhart. He then began a 23 year career at the City of Flint. He retired in 1984. Edward and Lois married July 31, 1949 for 54 years until her death in 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his father, mother, and his sister Linda. He is survived by his children, Tracey (Steven) Drost, Jeffrey (Karen) Benaway; granddaughter, Vanessa Benaway, nephew, Mike Marko; along with several other nieces and nephews.
Edward loved playing Cribbage, card games, bingo, and the lottery. Edward was an avid bowler along with his wife and won many league championships in earlier years. After retirement he and his wife Lois traveled in their motor home on numerous trips, many with their granddaughter Vanessa. Ed loved his scooter which afforded him some independence. Even though his vision and hearing were diminished, he never felt sorry for himself, and lived a full life with many friends.
A special thank you to Iva and all his friends at Lockwood, Burton for their friendship during the final years of his life. Also, he was grateful for Tammy and all the staff of Lockwood of Burton for their caring and watchful eye during his residence.
