Edmund John Rashid

RASHID, Edmund John - age 93, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, April 4, 2008 surrounded by family. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Rd., Flint with Fr. Jihad Younes celebrant. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12-4 and 5-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where an incense service will be held 7 PM Monday evening. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children?s Research Hospital. Mr. Rashid was born February 3, 1915 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Nahim and Mary (Kallir) Rashid. He married Margaret Neinstedt on May 20, 1950 in Flint and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2004. Mr. Rashid was the owner and operator of Rashid's Market and retired from Buick after 20 years of service. Surviving are: daughter, Mary Katherine and husband, Scott Bright of Swartz Creek; two sons, Michael Rashid and wife, Theresa of Kalamazoo, Paul Rashid and wife, Cherie of Howell; seven grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Emily, Michael and Kayla, Tabatha, Jonathan, James, Jessica, Casie; three sisters, Agnes Torok, Helen Joseph, Cecelia and husband, John Abdella; brother, Martin Rachid and wife, Nina; sister-in-law, Virginia Neinstedt and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: parents; brothers, George (Mary) Rashead, Phil Rashid; brothers-in-law, Frank Torok and Sam Joseph.
