Edith Octavia Perrine, 97, of Flint passed away January 9, 2023, in the Ascension Genesys Campus surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Robert E. Perrine. Beloved mother of Michael (Josephine) Perrine of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, John (Greta) Perrine of Flint, Carol (Brad Tucker) Perrine of Gainesville, FL, Gary Perrine of Grand Rapids, and David (Susan) Perrine of New York, NY. She was the cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren, was beloved by 16 great grandchildren and honored by one great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Emidio and Marcellina (Pianosi) Alleva. Sister of Louis Alleva of Flint and the late Iola Fillingham. Edith was a 1943 graduate of St. Matthew Catholic High School, followed by her graduation from Baker Business College. Prior to her retirement in 1990, Edith was a supervisor in the Accounting Department at St. Joseph Hospital for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Flint, where she was a member of the altar society, served as a greeter, and made many close friends over the years. If success in life is measured by laughs, Edith had everything one could want. A testament to Edith’s positivity and humor was evidenced beyond the orbit of her family. Even her children’s friends would inquire about her health and well-being, and most certainly, childhood complaints would be met with, “Hey, I like your Mom!" She will be remembered for her legendary “Ma’s Biscotti”, Christmas Pizzelles, her cheerfulness, infectious laughter and varied homey quips, i.e; “Dry up and blow away.”, “Spoon pie.”, “Like one pig waits for another.”, “Where there’s rope there’s trouble.”, “Off like a dirty shirt.”, and her most well-known quip and final words...“Whoop-dee-doo!”
