Edgar Hayes

HAYES, Edgar Clayton -- Age 90 of Swartz Creek, died July 31, 2022.  Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Friday August 5 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor J.D. Landis officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, 1:30 PM Friday. Visitation will be 4-8PM Thursday and 10 AM Friday until the time of service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to The Lighthouse Neurological Rehabilitation Center, Caro, MI.

Edgar was born September 1, 1931 in North Wilkesboro NC, the son of Robert and Jenia (Souther) Hayes. Edgar proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Joanne Transou in North Wilkesboro NC on August 14, 1954. They had a fairytale marriage with a strong faith in God to lead the way.. He was employed as a Supervisor with GM for 32 years retiring in 1985. Edgar enjoyed gardening especially the hanging baskets of flowers on his deck and his perennial filled rock garden. He enjoyed camping with family and friends and played a little golf over the years. He was an excellent Handyman, especially when his “girls” needed something done. He decided about 5 years ago to get a puppy and named her Lexi. Lexi was the Queen of the house and great company.

Edgar is survived by: his children, Sandra L. Winn, Cathy A. Sudborough, and Eddie S. Hayes; granddaughters, Melissa Van Petten (Tony), Laura (Justin) Fortune, and Alexandria (Joshua) Thomas; great grandchildren, Noah, and Leah; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Lexi.
