Wyckoff, Earl Forrest, Age 93, of Gladwin formerly of Hartland Township, passed away September 3, 2011 at Mid Michigan Gladwin Pines in Gladwin. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Hartland Cemetery, Hartland, with a military service being conducted under the auspices of the Austin-Moore American Legion Post #415 of Hartland. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silverlake Rd., Fenton In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. He was born August 21, 1918 in Hartland Township, the son of the late Forrest and Mildred (Holtforth) Wyckoff. Earl married Minerva Mae Powell on November 21, 1942, she preceded him in death July 10, 2009 after 67 years of marriage. Earl's father, Forrest, was on the Hartland Voluntary Fire Department and when there was a fire Earl was allowed to go to the fires with his dad. He remembered riding the 1926 Chevrolet fire engine. Earl joined the Hartland Fire Department around 1946 and served over 30 faithful years. Mr. Wyckoff served during WWII from 1941-1945 in the 182nd Artillery Battalion. He also drove milk truck for several years, and worked for 30 years at General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford as a Chevrolet mechanic retiring in 1979. Earl leaves four children, David (Ruth) Wyckoff of Hartland Township, Carrie (Gary) VanBlaricum of Gladwin, Kathy (Randy) VanWormer of Gaines, Julie Lyons of Marysville, Washington; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grand-children; 2 great-great grandchildren. He is greatly missed by his faithful dog, Bucky. Earl was the oldest of 6 children, twin sister, Eleanor Engle of Oregon, sister, Emma (Arthur) Needham of Hartland, and sister Elaine (George)Sutton of Hartland Township. He is preceded in death by two brothers Ernie (Frances) Wyckoff and Elvin "Bud" (Marion)Wyckoff, grandson David Earl Wyckoff and great-great-grandson, Abel Ortiz.
