WOOD, Earl O, Jr.- Age 84, of Flint, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Linda Moffett officiating. Burial immediately following at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1-8 PM Saturday, 11 AM - 8 PM Sunday. A masonic memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Sunday under the auspices of Flint Lodge #23 F.& A.M. Those desiring may make contribution to Avalon Hospice. Mr. Wood was born November 12, 1923 in Flint, the son of Earl O. Sr. and Daisy Mae (Carr) Wood. He married Ruth Marie Lawrence November 11, 1941 and she preceded him in death May 25, 2005. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from GM as a Superintendent. Mr. Wood was a member of the Flint Lodge #23 F.& A.M. for over 60 years, Elf Khurafeh Shrine, Davison Shrine Club Tin Lizzies, Bay City Consistory, American Legion Post. Surviving are: 2 children, James Earl Wood of Flint, Bonnie Sue Rose of Flint; 8 grandchildren, Gloria, Shawn, Kimberly, Deborah, Steven, Alexander, Brett and Heather; 21 great-grandchildren; his faithful dog, Lady Bug.
