SMITH, Duane Frederick - age 66, of Fenton, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Dale Swihart officiating. Visitation will be held 2-5 & 6-8 PM Tuesday. Interment will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to McLaren Hospice. Duane was born October 28, 1943 in Flint, the son of Charles and Lola (Brookman) Lykes. He was a 1962 graduate of Linden High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam. Duane married Linda Sutherby on August 26, 1972 in Fenton. He was a member of Linden Presbyterian Church. Surviving are: wife, Linda of Fenton; daughter, Emily; two sons, Roger and Fred; five siblings, Pat Fox, Roger Smith, Russell Smith, Lucy and Gerald Johnson, Joyce Lykes; brother and sister-in-laws; Bert and Brenda Belding, Spencer and Sharon Sutherby, Tim and Sandi Sutherby, JoAnn Sutherby; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Danny Eder. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Jean Arnold and brother-in-law, Gary Sutherby. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
