Dr. Jack Martin

MARTIN, Dr. Jack Richard, age 68, of Millington, died Friday May 29, 2020. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road Flint. Dr. Martin was born June 4th, 1951. He was the first of two boys born to Ruth and Dick Martin who proceeded him in death. He is survived by his son Jack (Laura) Martin, and daughters, Laura (Matt) Sommer, Julie (Aaron) Johnson and Jill Martin. He is also lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren Reese, Saren, Nola, Calvin, Jason, Allison, Katie and Kaylei, his brother David (Lisa) Martin and nieces and nephews as well as his ex-wife Sally Martin with whom he was married to for 45 years. Jack was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed swimming, hunting, fishing, caring for a variety of farm animals, scuba diving and motorcycling. He was an accomplished dentist who also practiced law. He dreamed of flying an ultralight plane, but that never came to fruition following a stroke in 2002 that lead to his early retirement. Still, he found ways to be adventurous. He retrofitted his old Honda Goldwing motorcycle with a trike kit so he could drive it around town. He even took his beloved dog Xena for rides. Jack was at his happiest watching his children and grandchildren succeed. He was their biggest fan and was always quick to brag. And, he certainly never missed an opportunity to see his kids run a 5k or 10k. While he could not be surrounded by his loved ones due to his COVID-19 diagnosis he was surrounded in spirit with many people praying and pulling for him.
