GROSHEK, Dr. Norman Michael - age 88, of Flushing, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 301 N. Cherry St., Flushing with Monsignor Richard Groshek celebrant. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 1-5 PM Sunday and 4-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Powers Catholic High School (www.powerscatholic.org). Norman was born March 25, 1929 in Flint, the son of Michael and Pauline (Ignash) Groshek. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving in the Military Police. Norman married Patricia Norko on June 8, 1957. He was a chiropractor in the Flint area for over 30 years. Dr. Groshek had also served as the past president of the Powers Catholic High School Board of Education. He was a life-long member of All Saints Catholic Church, Past Faithful Navigator and member of the Knights of Columbus, member of Dom Polski, and the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #8. Surviving are: wife of 60 years, Patricia; daughter, Lisa (Dave) Keirsted of Fenton; son, Michael Groshek (Nicole Logan) of Rochester; three grandchildren, Cassidy, Tyler and Alexa Mattis; two brothers, Michael (Ann) Groshek of Denver, CO and Msgr. Richard Groshek of Swartz Creek. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Garret Groshek in 1986; and sister, Madeline Harahan in 2014.
