WARD, Doyle G. Â Age 87, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at his residence. Services will be held 8 PM Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Sturgill Funeral Home, 321 Harrell St., Pennington Gap, VA. Interment will be held at 11 AM Sunday at Baileys Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Saturday at Sturgill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to McLaren Hospice, 1515 Cal Drive, Davison, MI 48423. Mr. Ward was born July 31, 1916 in Olinger, VA, the son of Jonathan Jefferson and Mary Caroline Molly (Kelly) Ward. He married Frances Bailey on March 15, 1937 in Kentucky and she preceded him in death on March 21, 1989. Mr. Ward had resided in the Flint area since 1953 coming from Virginia. He retired from Buick Motor as an Inspector in 1981 after 29 years of service and was a member of U.A.W. Local #599. Mr. Ward served in the U.S. Army from 1934-1936. He bred and showed Chihuahuas for 30 years throughout the Mid-West. Surviving are: two daughters, Carol and husband, Bob Holderby of Dayton, OH, Donna Kaye and husband, Gary Goodall of Swartz Creek; son, Hobert Bud Doyle Ward and wife, Deborah of Linden; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Williams of Big Stone Gap, VA; brother, Gerald Glen Ward of Fairborn, OH; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
