WILKINSON, Douglas L. - age 81, of Fenton, died Saturday, November 19, 2016. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, Michigan Community VNA Hospice or the charity of ones choice. Mr. Wilkinson was born July 17, 1935 in Flint, the son of Charles and Lillian (Cooper) Wilkinson. He was a 1954 graduate of Flint Central High School and married his high school sweetheart, DeeLynn Dale on September 7, 1957. Mr. Wilkinson worked for the U.S. Postal Service during college at GMI (now Kettering). He retired from General Motors Buick / Cadillac Engineering in 1997 after 37 years of service. He was active in high school band boosters, Boy Scouts of America, and Old News Boys. Mr. Wilkinson enjoyed golf and loved his dog, Charlie. He was true family man. Surviving are: wife of 59 years, DeeLynn; two sons, James (Sandra) Wilkinson of Swartz Creek, Jeff Wilkinson of Novi; two grandchildren, Timothy (Jennifer) Siler and April (Virgil) Lockhart; many great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Douglas; and three brothers, Charles, Eugene and Harlan. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
