Douglas Rumsey

RUMSEY, Douglas B.- Age 93 of Davison passed Wednesday, August 17, 2016. A special celebration of a life well lived will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 10 at Atherton United Methodist Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd., Burton 48519. Visitation will be 10 AM until time of the service. Douglas was born July 4, 1923 in Flushing, Michigan, the son of Earl and Cora (Woodruff) Rumsey. He was married 55 years to Ruth (Voelker) who preceded him in death. They resided in Mt. Morris, Grand Blanc, Florida and Davison over those years. After 40 years of service, Doug retired from Michigan Bell Telephone. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Atherton United Methodist Church. Doug had a love for genealogy, auto restoration, home improvement projects, computers, and family gatherings. Doug is survived by his son, Lynn (Debbie) Rumsey of Davison and daughter, Denise Rumsey of Birmingham, MI; loving companion, Shirley Dunagan; sister, Rosalie (James) Ralph; sister-in-law, Jane Voelker; and other cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and others who participated in his care. A military honors ceremony will be held 11 AM Tuesday, September 20 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to his church.
