POTTER, Douglas Dean - age 92, of Linden, died March 5, 2024. A memorial service will be held 3 PM Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430 with Pastor Marvin Downs officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM - 3 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Douglas was born February 7, 1932 in Flushing, MI, the son of Arnold and Irene (Collins) Potter. He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and married Dorothy Hoss on February 9, 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Tank Commander in the Korean War. Douglas retired from General Motors in 1980 after 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer and had four hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards with his family. Surviving are: wife, Dorothy Potter; son, Douglas (Vickie) Potter of Highland; daughter, Sherry (Richard) Hunt of Linden; granddaughter, Jennifer (Gene) Kopczyk of Metamora; grandson, Tom (Suzanne) Danner of Linden; five great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, William and Cecil Potter; sister, Natalie Schubert. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and aides at Symphony of Linden and the team from Residential Hospice that cared for Douglas, especially, Cheryl.
