Douglas Montague

September 4, 1952 — January 1, 2020

Montague, Douglas Allen  - Age 67, of  Linden. Funeral Services will be at 11AM Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Linden Presbyterian Church, 119 West Broad Street, Linden. Pastor Dawn Russell will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the service time. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Douglas was born in Holly, Michigan on September 4, 1952 and passed away on January 1, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Theresa Feley Montague, son Jarrod Montague, daughter Natalie Montague, daughter-in-law Stephanie Montague, future son-in-law Keith McCarley, grandchildren Maxwell, Evan, Mila, Liv Baliey, Weston Montague and Kaylin Reed, sister-in-law Judy Collins, nephews and nieces Darrell & Lea Collins and Mike & Chris Sheick, and many other extended family members.

He graduated from Holly High School in 1971 and married the love of his life, Theresa Feley of Linden, in 1972. Two months later, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Knox, went through AIT at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and was deployed for 13 months to Korea to support the Vietnam War effort.

When he returned home, he studied to become an electrician on the GI bill and started working at Flint Osteopathic Hospital (F.O.H.) in 1974. Jarrod was born on 1/28/76 and Natalie on 9/22/78. He was an Elder at Linden Presbyterian Church, Cub Scout Den Leader with Pack 111 in Linden, and committed member of the community.

Doug retired from Genesys Hospital as a Biomedical Engineer after almost 30 years of service when combined with F.O.H. After he retired, he earned his builder’s license and started a handyman business called “That Guy”.

He is remembered by his family and friends for being a very talented trades person, electrician, auto and small engine mechanic, builder and prankster with a fantastic sense of humor. He could fix anything and would drop everything to help a family member, neighbor, or friend in need.

Douglas was fully committed to his family. He enjoyed bike rides, annual family vacations to Cedar Point, Mackinac, and Tawas, music, movies, and helping his family with absolutely anything they needed. He built playhouses for his kids and grandkids complete with a zip line, replaced roofs, painted, fixed household appliances, repaired vehicles, and was the first responder to any repair or car trouble needs.

Doug was a disciple of Jesus and often said, “I know where I’m going when I’m gone.” Though he will be immensely missed by those that loved him, his family will find comfort knowing that he’s returned home to God, his Creator.

Donations in his name can be made to the Linden Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
