Douglas Arthur FRASER

March 24, 1925 — October 9, 2009

FRASER, Douglas Arthur, age 84, of Fenton, formerly of Arab, Alabama, passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. A Memorial Gathering will be 12PM -4PM Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Lockwood of Fenton, 16300 Silver Parkway, Fenton. Memorial Donations may be made to Rotary International, Paul Harris Foundation. Douglas was born March 24, 1925 in Orchard Lake, Michigan the son of the late Donald F. and Edith Charlotte (White) Fraser. He married Ellen Merwin Wiggins on September 24, 1947 in Rochester, Michigan. Douglas proudly served in the Army Air Force during WWII, stationed in the South Pacific. He graduated from University of Missouri in 1952 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Advertising, and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He also achieved a MAS in Specialty Advertising in 1990 and was President of Michigan Specialty Advertising Association in 1991. Douglas was a member of Rotary International since 1955, serving in many capacities. In 1972, he was involved as a Group Study Exchange Team Leader; during 1975-1976 he was District Governor and lastly, a Paul Harris Fellow in 1978. Douglas also committed time as the President of the Oxford Chamber of Commerce. In his leisure, Douglas was a sportsman, enjoying stream fishing, especially seeking out the brook trout. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ellen; 3 sons, Mark Fraser (Patricia) of Perry, MI, Paul Fraser (Marianne) of Melbourne, FL; Eric Fraser (Marjorie) of Sebastapol, CA; 6 grandchildren, Tiersa Nureyev (Erik Hilburn) of San Francisco, CA, Phillip Fraser of Hollywood, CA, Ashley Allen of Gaines, MI, Katherine Fraser, Michael Fraser, Kelly Fraser all of Melbourne, FL; great-granddaughter, Stella Hannah Hilburn; brother, Thomas Fraser (Shirley) of Avon Park, FL; sister, Evelyn Taylor (Clyde) of Cleveland, TN. He was also preceded in death by brother, Donald Fraser and sister, Edith Beeson.
