Douglas Martin DOLAN

DOLAN, Douglas Martin age 85, of Swartz Creek, Died Monday January 11, 2011 at Mclaren Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11AM Friday, January 14, 2011 at Peace Presbyterian Church, 1521 N Elms Rd. Flint. Pastor David Galbriath Officiating Internment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington, 1PM Saturday. Visitation will be held 2-8PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, with a Masonic memorial service held at 7:30pm . Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Peace Presbyterian Church. Mr. Dolan was born June 10, 1925 in Flint, the son of the late Martin and Anna (Almquist) Dolan. He married Elaine Johnson July 29, 1948 in Flint. Mr. Dolan served his country in the Navy. He was a supervisor for Singer sewing machine company , retiring in 1979 with 25 years of service. Douglas was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church and Masonic Fellowship Lodge # 490 F.&A.M. for 60 years. He lived in Detroit for 13 years and Chicago for 15 years before moving to Swartz Creek. Douglas and his wife loved to travel seeing most states, Nova Scotia and much of Canada, they wintered in Texas for many years, then decided to settle down at Mari -Dan Subdivision. Surviving are his wife of 62 years Elaine of Swartz Creek; son , Glenn (Angelia) Dolan of TN; daughters, Maureen (Richard) Valentine of WA, Kathleen (Jorma) Lankinen of Marquette, MI; grandchildren, Christopher Martello, Emily Martello, Gemma (Eric Brodersen) Martello. He is preceded in death also by his 4 sisters, Eleanor Train, Margaret Shoup. Doris McTaggart, and Helen Peake.
