Douglas Dennis

Dennis, Douglas C., age 79, of Byron Michigan died on Sunday, October 29, 2017, in hospice care at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Born in Flint, Michigan to parents Alex J. and Gladys (Stephens) Dennis, he met his bride to be Sally (Smith) in a Square Dance Club in college, and they were married July 22, 1960. The couple remained active dancing his entire life. Employed by AC Spark Plug/Delco in Flint for 38 years, he retired in 1998. He volunteered for many years teaching and coaching junior marksmanship programs, as well as participating in skeet leagues. He was mechanically inclined and could fix almost anything. He enjoyed history, especially military history. In recent years he was actively involved in the Swartz Creek and Loose Community Senior Centers. In addition to his wife Sally, he is survived by his son Blaine (M. Luisa Partipilo), daughter Amy (Kris Pegouskie), and grandchildren Alex, Evan, Olivia, and Claire. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David and Paul, and sister Virginia. The family has chosen cremation. Visitation with the family and friends will take place at Sharp Funeral Home, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Michigan, on Friday November 3, 2017 from 4 - 8pm and memorial services on November 4, 2017 1 pm (visitation with family beginning at 11am) in the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Swartz Creek or Loose Senior Centers.
