Douglas Briggs

August 20, 1961 — December 26, 2022

Mt. Morris

Douglas William Briggs, beloved father, brother, and friend drifted off this mortal coil on December 26th, 2022, at the age of 61. His Spirit was released from his worn-out shell of a body and is now exploring the universe. He was with his daughter, Sarah "skinny mini Sarah Lynnie" when he passed.

Doug is a long-time resident of Mount Morris, Michigan. He was born in Flint, Michigan. Doug was a long-time employee of American Wrought Iron of Flint, Michigan, 30+ years as the top welder/fabricator of the company. Doug was a hard-working, dedicated, loyal man. His values and work ethics were admired by so many. His passion was welding and building and framing "He could build a house from foundation up", he had amazing craftsmanship to say the least and he was amazing at anything and everything he did work-wise. His attitude towards work impacted everyone close to him, he was a provider and a protector of everyone close to him. Doug gave the shirt off his back to anyone. His hobbies were playing his acoustic guitar, he loved music and he adored his two children, Sarah and Douglas II and all his grandchildren. He loved everyone in his entire family. His mother was his everything, those two were "Thick as thieves", "his daughter and son were his "ride or die".

He is survived by his daughter and son, Sarah Lynn Briggs Armstrong and Douglas William Briggs II. Doug has five grandchildren, Tyler, Brian, Breanna, Gavin and Alaina. Doug also has five great-grandchildren, Maisie, Kyrie, Abigail, Kinsley, Zane and baby boy, due April 2023.
Doug is also survived by his siblings, Lori, Darin, Alicia, Billie and several nieces and nephews. Doug is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen H. Lucas; his father, William C. Lucas and his brother, William Charles Lucas III.

Cremation will take place at the Sharp Funeral Home, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. A celebration of life will take place during the springtime with his loved ones, daughter, son, grandkids, great grandkids, sisters, brother and nieces and nephews.

Everyone is asked to celebrate Doug's life in their own way, raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be quite appropriate. Instead of flowers, Doug would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name.
