Dorothy Jean STEVENS

STEVENS, Dorothy Jean (Campbell) of Fenton, Michigan, passed away October 21, 2011. She was 75. She was born on May 1st, 1936 in Escanaba, Michigan. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1954. She married James Roger Stevens on October 5th, 1957. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1958 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. She worked for Parke Davis/Warner Lambert in Rochester, Michigan for over 30 years as a biologist and quality control expert. She retired in 1996. She was passionate about Michigan State athletics and supported the university as a booster and an avid fan, tailgating on autumn football Saturdays with family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family and especially her seven grandchildren. She was an active member of Lake Fenton United Methodist Church. She was known to all as a loving, kind, and honest person who always put others above herself. She is survived by her son, Brian Stevens (Denise) of Holly, Michigan; her daughters, Terri Gunder (Frank) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Linda Sue Rucarean (Scott) of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Cooper and Taryn Stevens; Ashley and Alec Gunder; and Tyler, Troy, and Trace Rucarean; her sister, Maysie Talcott(the late Charles) of Panorama City, California, and her brothers, Bruce Campbell (Mary) of Ida, Michigan and David Campbell( Ruthie) of Cornell, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Stevens; her brother, Edward Campbell of Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, and her parents, Wallace and Dorothy Campbell of Cornell, Michigan; as well as several beloved pets. The family will receive visitors Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 12:00-3:00pm, and again from 5:00-8:00pm, Sharp Funeral Home, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, Michigan. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 2:00pm at Lake Fenton United Methodist Church, 2581 N. Long Lake Road, Fenton Township, Michigan. Interment will immediately follow the service at Tyrone Memory Gardens, 10260 White Lake Rd., Fenton, Michigan. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gleaners Food Bank of Southeast Michigan (www.gcfb.org).
