Dorothy Lafata

LAFATA, Dorothy Alberta - Age 98, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, November 15, 2021.  A private family service will be held.  Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc.  Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy was born November 27, 1922 in Lanton, MO, the daughter of Lawrence and Nancy Ann (Carter) Mahorney.  She was a graduate of West Plains High School in West Plains, MO.  She married Dominick T. Lafata July 24, 1945 in St. Charles, MO and he preceded her in death February 16, 1995.  She had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 7 years.  Dorothy attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Swartz Creek.  She also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Flint Osteopathic Hospital.

Surviving are: her daughters, Monica (Gregory) Johnson of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Marcia Finks of New York State; grandchildren, Alisa Johnson, Stephen Johnson, and Mathew Tobias; great grandchildren, Courtney Lanham and Jacob Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roy and Kenneth Mahorney; and nephew, Larry Mahorney.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
