Dorothy Harden

Harden, Dorothy Grace (Hickman) - age 92, of Linden, Died November 17, 2019 at Caretel Inns in Linden with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, November 22, 2019 Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel. 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Humane Society of Genesee County. Dorothy was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on February 12, 1927, the daughter of Lester and Isabelle Davis. She graduated from Fenton High School and married Joseph Hickman in 1949. Together they had two daughters, Rosemary and Susan. Joseph preceded her in death in 1969. Dorothy spent many years working at Spring Meadows Country Club, Linden Community Schools and TR Moen. In 1977, Dorothy married Harry Harden. Together they enjoyed Michigan summer’s on Silver Lake and wintering in Marathon, Florida. Harry preceded her in death in 2017. She will be missed by: her children, Rosemary (Brian) DuBois, Susan (late William Jr.) Lanning, Tim (Kay) Harden; grandchildren, Amy Maul, Bill (Rachel) Lanning, Todd (Cristi) Lanning, Lori (Michael) Machala, Jill (David) Lanning, Leslie (Kirk) Telford, Wendy (Terry) Greig, Jay (Penny) Harden, Jim (Bobby) Harden; many great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Elaine Andrews.  She was also preceded in death by her infant son; brothers, John and Warren Davis; son-in-law, William Lanning Jr; brothers-in-law, Ernest and Floyd Harden; sisters-in-law, Lela VanBuren and Lola Welch; and her cherished poodles, Heidi and Katie. The family extends a special thank you to Rosemary, Susan, and Amy for their devotion to providing around the clock care to Dorothy during her final days. Special thanks to her many friends at Caretel Inns, including current and former staff and Tammi from Hospice.
