CUNNINGHAM, Dorothea O.(nee Halker), May 4, 1921 to January 25, 2011. Dorothea was the devoted wife of Clarence Cunningham, Jr. for forty nine years, who preceded her in death in 1992, loving mother of Michael (Mary) Cunningham and Pamela (Lee) Krahn, and loving grandmother of Christopher (Melaney) Cunningham. Dot was the daughter of the late Francis ""Al"" and Gertrude (Mack) Halker, and sister of Cyril (Mildred) Halker, Mary (John) Palte, Patricia (Warren) Ritchie, all of whom preceded her in death, and C. Maxine (Victor) Stechschulte, who survives. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Dot was born in the same farm home in Columbus Grove, Ohio in which her father and all her siblings were born. (One of her great joys was to be able to locate and re-visit the site of this home in 2007.) She met her future husband while attending St. John High School in Lima, Ohio. Clarence enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, and they were married in Bennettsville, South Carolina in 1943. After the war they moved to Michigan, where Dot and Clare became active members of St. Pius Catholic Church in Southgate. In 1984 the couple moved to Fenton, and after Clareï¿Â½(TM)s passing, Dot led an active, independent life for many years.
