Dorothea W. Bolton

BOLTON, Dorothea W., age 93 of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Flint and Singer Island, Florida died Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Mrs. Bolton was born November 27, 1911 in Charlevoix, Michigan the daughter of Montgomery and Zelma (Anderson) Withers.  She and James R. Bolton were married on June 16, 1937 in Rockville, Maryland.  He preceded her in death in 2000.  Mrs. Bolton graduated from Michigan State University in 1935 and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.  She worked as a home economist for Consumer Power Co. and implemented the Federal Governments school lunch program in Flint.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Flint, a 43 year volunteer with the Hurley Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Junior Needlework Guild, The Flint Golf Club, The Flint Institute of Music, The Flint Institute of Arts, a charter member of Warwick Hills Golf Club and a contributor to the College and Cultural Fund and the Community Foundation of Flint.  Surviving are two sons; Richard Withers Bolton and wife Dr. Gabrielle Bolton of Greenwich, Ct and Bruce Jonathan Bolton of Miami Beach, Florida.  Also surviving are two grandsons, Alexander Bolton of Washington D.C. and Christopher Bolton of New York City and a brother Jack Withers of Bradenton, Fl.  Mrs. Bolton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, a sister Betty King and two brothers, Bruce and Robert Withers.  A service of remembrance will be 12 noon Sunday, June 19, 2005 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St.  Dr. Jerry Pitman officiating.  Her cremated remains will be placed in the Columbarium of the church.  Memorial gifts in her name may be offered to the First Presbyterian Church.   Arrangements by the Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd.
