SERRELS, Doris Marie - age 84, of Flint, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at her residence. Services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Serrels was born July 30, 1931 in Campbell, MO, the daughter of Homer and Julie Marie (Vinson) Warren. She was a 1949 graduate of Bendle High School. She married Doug Serrels on Sept. 16, 1950 at The Oak Park Methodist Church of Flint, MI. They had 65 wonderful years together where they began their journey together in Fenton, MI, moved to San Antonio, TX and Springfield, IL, prior to relocating back home to Flint, MI. She worked at the Genesee County Clerk and Prosecutor's office for many years and developed some life-long friendships. Doris was an avid sports fan and spent her years cheering on her kids and grandkids skiing, baseball, hockey, and soccer events. She was the resident Baseball-Mom for multiple Centilli Cement and Fortier's Corvettes Flint City Championship teams. She enjoyed raising money and supporting the Ainsworth Spartan Athletic and Hockey Booster Clubs. She also never missed a Tiger's game. One her favorite events were her annual trips to Toronto to cheer her beloved Tigers against the their rival Blue Jays. She relished her Bridge and Euchre clubs and developed strong friendships through those, as well. Finally, she loved to entertain. Her attention to details and planning made her outings with family and friends are memories that'll never fade. Surviving are: husband, Doug Serrels; two sons, R. Douglas "Doak" Serrels and Andy Serrels; grandchildren, Marie (Jason) Murtagh, Roscoe Serrels, Sarah Henning and Demi Serrels; sister, Ellen Manick; two sisters-in-law, Serene (Dennis) Moore and Sherrel Curtis; many nieces and nephews, and her beloved Labrador Retriever, Samson. She was preceded in death by: her father, Homer Warren; mother, Julie Miller; step-father, Francis Miller; brother, David (Sandy) Warren; and two brothers-in-law, Dennis Manick and Bill Curtis.
