PADGET, Doris Jacqueline "Jackie" - age 94, of Linden, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM Thursday May 19, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd. Fenton. Her service will be live streamed and may be viewed on her obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com Visitation will be held from 12-1 PM Thursday.
Jackie was born Nov. 20, 1927 in Morgantown, West Virginia to James Henry and Anna Myrtle (Casteel) Hixenbaugh. She was the 5th of 8 children. The family moved to Michigan when she was 2 years old. Her father worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad. Jackie attended Bentley School where she excelled on the championship field hockey team. Her first job was as a waitress at the Smith Bridgemans tea room in Flint. After work she spent time at the movies while waiting for the bus home to Belsay Road. Jackie was working and living independently at the tender age of 16. She met Ernest "Bud" Padget at the old Flint Park Outdoor Amusement Park. It was a match made in heaven that lasted for 62 years from 1945 until Bud's death in 2007. Later in life Jackie graduated from Cosmetology school and owned a beauty shop for many years. Bud and Jackie loved to entertain at their home at Little Island Lake and in Sebring Florida. They enjoyed bowling, square dancing and playing cards with their many friends. After Bud's death, Jackie moved to the Shiawassee Shores Retirement Park in Linden, Michigan. She lived there for 12 years and made many new friends there and at the Loose Senior Center.
Jackie was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Patricia, granddaughter Denice, great-grandson Christopher, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her sons Douglas (Sharon) Padget and Michael (Sherry) Padget; grandchildren, Bill (Jennifer) Croteau, Michael (Sara) Croteau, Zachary (Stacey) Padget, Jennelle (Michael) Martin, Rhonda (Dennis) Nehls, and Angela Padget; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jackie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity of choice. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
