Doris Howell

HOWELL, Doris E. -- Age 89, of Swartz Creek,  died November 20, 2021. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, November 26, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Pinegrove Cemetery in Davison. Visitation will be held 11 AM - 2 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Carriage Town Ministries. Doris was born October 11, 1932 to Garth and Laurabelle (Muchler) Thorne. She married Gerald (Jerry) Howell February 9, 1952. They were happily married for 58 years. She enjoyed spending summer and fall in the U.P., berry picking, agate hunting, sitting by the campfire, playing cards, hosting fish fries and was nearly unbeatable at Scrabble. She especially enjoyed having her beloved grandchildren with her at family gatherings both up north and at home downstate. Surviving are: 6 children, Deborah (Randy) Snow-Leininger, Laura (Jeffrey) Hurst, Christine (Robert) Manchester, Gerald (Lisa) Howell, David (Wendy) Howell and Michael. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren David, Aaron, Megan, Sara, Katie, Robert Manchester II, Mandy, Courtney, Stephanie and Kori; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; six surviving siblings, Steve, Carol, Joyce, George, Kathie, and Tom; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, sisters Janice Kato and Betty Crowley, grandsons Ryan Hurst and James Howell.
