If you knew Doris Fosgard, you would know that it was God first and then family.
"Everything else was less important," said son, Scott Fosgard. "Yes, she worked hard as a court reporter in Macomb County for 30 years and was the best Mom in the world, but it was her faith that was most important to her. And, if she knew you, be assured she was praying for you."
Fosgard, Doris Maxine- Age 93, of Harrison Township, Mich. passed away Friday, May 20, 2022. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Sharp Funeral Homes, 209 East Broad Street, Linden. Pastor Tim Tyler officiating. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. at the Fenton Hotel, 302 N. Leroy Street in Fenton, Mich. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Samaritan's Purse.
Doris was born November 12, 1928 in Wheeler, Michigan, the daughter of Harvey and Opal (Lytle ) Strouse. She graduated from Ithaca High School. She married Earl V. Fosgard on April 22, 1950 and he preceded her in death. Doris loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit for over 50 years where she served in the Women's ministry, as a Sunday School teacher for both children and adults, in the Prison Ministry and Soup Kitchen. Her faith was extremely important to her. She also served as an usher at the Fisher Theater in Detroit. Doris enjoyed gardening, boating and vacationing with her family.
She is survived by her children, Connie Vander Schel, Eric Fosgard, Lisa (Lee) Purrenhage, and Scott (Debbie) Fosgard; grandchildren, Joel (Rosemary) Vander Schel, Kevin (Deborah Ritter-Vander Schel) Vander Schel, Naomi Montacre, Josh (Kathy) Purrenhage, Gabe (Andrea) Purrenhage, Tim (Emily) Purrenhage, Levi (Ania) Purrenhage, Lara (Joe) Mazek, Cory Fosgard, Drew (Blair Amorello) Fosgard, and Erin (Brett McGrath) Fosgard; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, David, Michael, Timothy, Mary, Calvin, Franklin, Mendel, Ty, Cole, Dane, Zoe, Mason, Gigi, Callie, and Lucas; several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; brothers, Robert and Ron Strouse; and daughter in law, Mary Fosgard.
