Donnie Lee Holtz

HOLTZ, Donnie Lee - Age 84, of Flint Township, passed away April 26, 2024 at Wellbridge of Fenton. Cremation has taken place and Mr. Holtz will be laid to rest, with military honors, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 12:30 PM Tuesday, June, 11 2024. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Donnie to the Burton VFW Post #822 (G-5065 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, Michigan 48507).

Donnie was born on October 9, 1939 in Flint, Michigan to the late Edmund Otto and Laurine Frances (Schafer) Holtz. He earned his Associates Degree in Business from Mott Community College before serving our country with the United States Navy.  Donnie worked for General Motors for 33 years before his retirement in 1993 and also worked at Roller Haven Skating Arena where he also competed in dance competitions. He worked as a union painter for eight years and was a member of the VFW Burton Post #822, Moose Lodge #2344, Burton Eagles #3814 and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his daughter, Deann (Scott) Messinger of Flint; grandchildren, Kayla Holz, Daryn (Anna) Hoogerhyde, Charles Williams; great-grandchildren, Adriana Hoogerhyde, and Sutton Lou Hoogerhyde;  sister, Betty Baker of Flint.  Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn Holz; son, Shaun Holtz; sisters, Marlene Martin and Carolyn Frome; brother, Merline Holtz..
