Donna Kummer

KUMMER, Donna Grace - Age 94, died Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Due to the recent events of the coronavirus, her family will hold a private graveside funeral service at Sunset Hills Cemetery (Flint, MI). Pastor Thomas Anderson officiating. A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to support Donna's favorite charities. Donna was born in Flint, Michigan on December 31, 1925, the daughter of the late Daniel and Lillian O’Brien. She married the love of her life, Hudson Kummer in 1947 and he preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. She resided in the area of Flint, MI her entire life, residing in Swartz Creek for the last 33 years. She was a longtime member of the Highland United Methodist Church in Highland, MI where she had many friends and was involved in numerous activities. Donna was an avid reader and gardener who enjoyed spending time with dear friends and her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent many winters at her home in Largo, FL. Surviving are children, David (Nancy) Kummer of Grand Blanc, MI, Kathy Habermehl of Swartz Creek, MI, James (Pam) Kummer of Highland, MI; sisters, Dorothy (Ken) West and Margaret Couture; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy O’Brien and Robin Kummer. Donna had 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hudson; parents; brothers, Edwin O’Brien and Daniel O’Brien; sister, Lillian Stone; brothers-in-law, Keith Kummer, Raymond Couture and Earl Stone; sister-in-law, Donna O’Brien; and son-in-law, Ted Habermehl.
