Donna Horning

HORNING, Donna Dee (née Francisco) - age 94, a long-time resident of Fenton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Donna was born in Montrose on November 16, 1927. She happily married Richard Harry “Bud” Horning on September 11, 1948. She began her professional life as a beautician and worked at various local businesses before she and Bud started the family construction and excavation business, R. H. Horning & Sons, in 1973, where she worked full-time as office manager and bookkeeper. Their business has been well-known throughout Michigan and they proudly employed their three sons and two grandsons over time. In her free time, Donna loved to make her famous potato salad and enjoy time with her family and friends, spending portions of each year with her husband at their Sebring, Florida home. She is survived by her three sons - Richard II of Grand Blanc, Gregory (Deborah) of Georgia, Brent (Janice) of Fenton; six grandchildren - Joseph, Amber, Leah, Jeffrey, Kyle, and Lauren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; grandson, Brandon; and daughter-in-law, Kelly. The family extends a special thank you to her Caretel “Dream Team” of Becky Kiesling, Michael and Audraya Forrest, as well as Torey of Heart to Heart Hospice for their love and dedication to her care over the years. Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on Monday, February 28, 2022 and funeral services will begin at 1pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 West Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Father Roy Horning officiating. Burial will follow at Montrose Township Cemetery, 9330 Vienna Road, Montrose. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Special Olympics Michigan or to a children’s charity of your choice.
