Donald "Don" Maples

MAPLES, Donald Rex - Age 88, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Funeral service will take place 1PM, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11 AM until the time of service Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the family c/o Sharp Funeral Homes.

Don was born on January 17, 1933 in Flint the son of Rex and Sarah Belle (Boughey) Maples. He was the owner and operator of D&V Collision for many years. Don married the love of his life Verna "Bobbie" Williams on January 19, 1952. He loved spending time with his family and friends cooking and sharing food. Don enjoyed fishing, traveling to his cabin at Bertha Lake and watching his favorite sport teams the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan.

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Helms and Debbie (Farrell) Helms; 5 grandchildren, Tonya (Arnold) Chema, Donnie Helms, Bobby (Stacey) Helms, Dana (Eddie) Whitehead and Kyle Helms; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and special friend, Spike Johnson.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bobbie; parents; son-in-law, Craig Helms; and 7 brothers and sisters, Mary, Jim, Virginia, Barb, Phyllis, Tom and Tootie. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
