Donald Leroy Simon

SIMON, Donald Leroy - Age 84, of Durand, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024. A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12-2 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to Roever Foundation, P.O. Don was born April 26, 1940 in Flint, the son of Elga Barnum and June (VanCamp) Simon. He was a 1958 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Suzanne Marie Harris September 2, 1961 in Swartz Creek. Don had resided in Durand for the past 21 years coming from Rankin. He retired in 1991 from GM Chevrolet V-8 Plant after 30 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #659. He enjoyed drag racing and building engines. 

Surviving are: his wife of 64 years, Suzanne; sisters-in-law, Barbara England of Saginaw, Maurine Robison of Port Huron and Patricia Sheldon of Birchville; and several nieces and nephews.
