SHERMAN, Donald S. - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday December 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday December 23, 2015, at Faith Missionary Church, 1327 N. Elms Road, Flint. Pastor Brent Kriesch officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and again 10AM until time of service at the Church. Those desiring may make contributions to Faith Missionary Church or the Wounded Warriors Project. Donald was born in Flint, Michigan, on March 25, 1937 the son of the late Steve and Celia (Smyle) Sherman. Donald married Shelby Springs in Flint, Michigan on August 5, 1989. Donald served in the Army during which he played semi-pro football. Mr. Sherman retired from AC Spark Plug with 30 years of service, and had a passion for harness racing, he owned and raced many horses. He also enjoyed going to the casinos and hunting. Surviving are: wife Shelby Sherman of Swartz Creek; children, Michael Sherman of Grand Blanc, Christine Sherman of Burton, Mark (Sherrie) Sherman of Fenton, Donald (Jessica) Sherman Jr. of NY; step-children, Michele Springs of Grand Rapids, Cheryl (Donald) Springs-Cortese of Fenton, Curtis Springs of CO, Matthew (Paula) Springs of FL, Kendra (Wesley) Hull of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Molly, Steven, Holly, Michael, Joshua; 13 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister Janet Garrett of Sterling, MI.
