Donald Arthur RUPP

RUPP, Donald Arthur - age 58, of Swartz Creek, our beloved - went into the loving arms of God on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, February 22, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand with Msgr. Steven J. Raica celebrant. Visitation will be held 1-9 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A vigil service will be held 5:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will also be held 10 Am until the time of mass on Monday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Lazarus Project at St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand. Mr. Rupp was born May 4, 1951 in Flint, the son of Donald S. and Barbara J. (Wheeler) Rupp. He was a graduate of Grand Blanc High school and attended Eastern Michigan University and Mott Community College. Mr. Rupp married Cindy L. Ellis on July 31, 1976 in Flint and she preceded him in death on June 30, 2002. He was employed by US 23 / Kessel / Kroger Supermarkets for 38 years where he served as a manager. His passions in life were family, singing, bowling, playing cards and the Spartans. Surviving are: son, Jason E. Rupp of Swartz Creek; daughter, Sarah A. Ochs and husband, Donald of Flushing; three grandchildren, Alexis Lowery-Rupp, Hannah Lowery-Rupp, Veyda Ochs; parents, Donald S. and Barbara Rupp; brother, Jerry Rupp and wife, Kay; sister, Diane and husband, Robert Hoffman; father-in-law, Stewart Ellis; sister-in-law, Jan and husband, Bill Seguin of Gaines; brother-in-law, Lynn Ellis and wife, Kay of OK; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Rupp was also preceded in death by: his mother-in-law, Veda Ellis. The family extends a special thank you to the nursing staff at DaVita.
